Self-reported activities of lower limb prosthetic users and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) have limited reliability and objectiveness, which has led to an increasing interest in accurate real-world activity monitoring. For prosthetic users, monitoring activity levels can be important for several reasons, including evaluating the effectiveness of their prosthetic device, assessing progress during rehabilitation, and promoting physical activity for overall health and well-being ​[1–3]​.

Adapttech takes a multidisciplinary approach to product development, involving a diverse group of skilled professionals committed to transparency in their design process. In a previous post titled "Design Control Process," we outlined our approach to creating user-friendly products.  

It is time to appreciate the value of design and its capacity to effect change in the world. Design is not just about making things look good, it is also about making things work better, solving problems, and improving the quality of life for people around the world.

April 7th is World Health Day. Each year, the WHO chooses a different health theme to focus on, and this celebration serves as an important reminder of the need to prioritize health and wellbeing as a fundamental human right and to work together to create a healthier and more equitable world for all.

Millions of people around the world are affected by limb loss and limb difference. Some are born with a limb difference, while others experience limb loss due trauma (accident or injury) or surgery (due to any of multiple causes such as blood vessel disease, cancer, infection, excessive tissue damage, dysfunction, pain, etc.) These individuals face unique challenges, from physical limitations to social stigma, but they also possess incredible resilience and determination.

We are thrilled to announce that Adapttech has undergone a major rebranding initiative with a fresh new look and a revamped website! Our goal is to better reflect our mission, values, and commitment to our audience.

The AAOP Annual Meeting held in Nashville was a gathering of leading professionals and industry experts in the orthotics and prosthetics field. Adapttech was proud to participate in the event, showcase its latest advancements in the field and present a totally renewed company branding.  

Trendy diets seem to have always existed. A new way of eating that will result in rapid weight loss and increased health. In the last few years, the idea of an anti-inflammation has made a resurgence, carving out its own niche as the “New Mediterranean Diet”. No, this style of eating doesn’t encourage the pizzas and smoked meats of Italy, but rather plant-based foods, such as Olive oil, whole grains, vegetables, legumes, fruits, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices that grew in the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea.

Today marks the 8th anniversary of Adapttech, and what an incredible journey it has been. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who is and has been part of our history and growth.

As we go back in time, the earliest-known prosthetic toe belonged to an Egyptian mummy. This was made from wood and leather and was discovered in the 1800s. Dating from 300 BC, the Capua leg was found in Italy and is one of the oldest known prosthetic leg, discovered in the late 1800s. It was made of a wooden core sheathed in bronze. Unfortunately, the Capua leg was destroyed amid the World War II bombings, but you can find a replica at the Science Museum in London.

AAOP is a gathering of leading professionals and industry experts, making it the perfect platform to showcase our latest advancements in the prosthetics technology field.

Adaptive sports, also known as parasports, are sports that have been adapted to allow individuals with disabilities (both physical and cognitive) to participate. These sports have come a long way since their humble beginnings in the late 19th and early 20th centuries when they were limited to rehabilitation and therapeutic settings. Today, adaptive sports have evolved into competitive sports for individuals with disabilities, allowing them to participate in sports and physical activity on a level playing field.

Adapttech is thrilled to be one of this year’s winners of the Good Design® Awards competing in the medical category! This prestigious award recognized the remarkable design of the INSIGHT Pro, which is an ensemble of all Adapttech’s products.

It has been an eventful year for Adapttech, and there are many accomplishments to celebrate! From receiving awards to expanding our reach to even more countries, it’s been a successful year thanks to the Adapttech team. 2022 also marked the 7th anniversary of Adapttech! On the 6th of December, Adapttech presented the results of the project “ADAPT – The new generation of Smart Fitting Prosthetic Solutions” at Porto Palácio Congress Hotel & Spa, in Porto, Portugal. This project looked at the INSIGHT range of products of Adapttech: the INSIGHT Digitizer, INSIGHT Sense, and INSIGHT Pro.

Adapttech had an amazing opportunity to travel to Norway and help present the innovative INSIGHT Sense technology at the NITO Conference with our new Norweigan distributor, Alfimed. Norway's engineering and technologist organization, known as NITO, is the country's fifth-largest professional organization with over 100,000 members.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) takes place on the 3rd of December every year. This day aims to encourage us to think about how we can create an environment that is inviting to everyone. IDPD further helps to promote empowerment and helps create real opportunities for people with disabilities.

Thanksgiving is nearly upon us, and with that comes its yearly gatherings steeped in tradition. Surprisingly enough, Thanksgiving is not only a record day for Turkey but also for runners: with a near 1 million of them participating in Turkey Trots around the country (3). The Turkey Trot has become a Pre-Thanksgiving meal tradition for many families in the past century. The very first of which was completed in Buffalo, NY in 1896, with only 6 participants (2).

ISPO-France's scientific congress took place on the 17-18th November and Adapttech had the opportunity to present there for the first time! The International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics, also known as ISPO, organizes an annual scientific congress bringing environmental professionals of external orthopaedics and rehabilitation.

Adapttech had the opportunity to attend The New Jersey Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetics, also known as NJAAOP, in November at Atlantic City, for the very first time.
